1 x Professional Nurse

Main purpose of the job 

The incumbent will support the implementation of a comprehensive HIV prevention and SRHR programme by identifying at-risk, HIV-negative adolescents including the LGBQTIA+ community and key populations and initiating these clients onto Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). In addition, the incumbent will support case-finding activities for clients and initiate all newly diagnosed HIV-positive clients onto ART and will support the continued management thereof of both ART and PrEP clients. 

Key performance areas 

  • Day-to-day service delivery at the Centre
  • Clinical assessments, management and monitoring of HIV negative clients on PrEP 
  • Clinical assessments, management and monitoring of HIV-positive clients on ART 
  • Conducting behavioral risk screening on HIV negative clients, initiate eligible clients onto PrEP and providing risk reduction counselling where needed
  • Provide technical assistance and onsite mentoring to facility staff to integrate HIV prevention and SRHR services into the Care and Treatment programme
  • Support the integration of post-violence services into HIV prevention, SRH and AYFS model of care
  • Conduct needs assessments and support the development, implementation, and monitoring of quality improvement plans
  • Completing patient records in line with guidelines
  • Support the CCMDD programme including identifying patients for decanting, adherence support groups and seeing follow up patients
  • Submit progress reports timeously
  • Manage equipment and supplies conducting assessments of requirements, managing stock and equipment and coordinating the maintenance of equipment
  • Support data analysis and verification processes to ensure that all reports submitted to donors are accurate and efficient 
  • Any ad-hoc activities in line with the nature of the job

 Required minimum education and training 

  • Diploma in General Nursing (with specialisation)
  • NIMART certificate
  • Knowledge of PrEP and SRH

Professional Body

Current registration with the South African Nursing Council

Minimum work experience 

Two years’ experience in a public health setting

Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities 

  • Knowledge on PrEP, ART and Sexual and Reproductive Health
  • Experience in working with adolescents in a clinical environment

1 x Data Clerk
(Ref: AHC-001)

Main purpose of the job 

The incumbent will be responsible for capturing all clinical related information and statistics. The incumbent will also be responsible for supporting the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) team in day-to-day data capturing activities. The incumbent will ensure that information is easy to locate when it is needed and will be required to organise and file documents and retrieve data.

Key performance areas 

  • Capturing of data into corporate health management systems
  • Capturing of data in accordance with GCP principles
  • Validate the quality of captured data by performing system verifications
  • Ensure that information is safe by performing regular backups of work captured in accordance with policy specifications
  • Capture data daily, weekly, or monthly on DHIS, Tier.Net and any other health information system that may be introduced at the Centre
  • General administrative work including filing and printing standard reports as and when requested by the team leader
  • Provide technical and information advice and guidance to users to maximize the use of available computer equipment and information
  • Provide support to the M&E team
  • Confidentially handle patient files
  • Understand the filing system
  • Locate and transport patient files within the Centre 
  • File patient files in a numerical and/or alphabetical as per the Centre’s filing format and maintaining this filing order
  • Communicate with the team leader

Required minimum education and training 

  • Matric Certificate
  • Computer systems training
  • Tier.net and PrEP capturing experience

Minimum work experience 

  • One year of data capturing experience

Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities 

  • Computer skills (MS Office package including excel) and excellent keyboarding (both speed and accuracy) is essential
  • Matric Mathematics
  • Previous experience in a healthcare / research setting and database packages preferable
  • Knowledge of the ART program with Tier.net training
  • Good communication skills in English (written and verbal)
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and within a multidisciplinary team

1 x Counsellor

Main purpose of the job 

The incumbent will work with the team to provide HIV testing services (HTS) and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services to adolescents, including the LGBTQIA+ community and key populations at the Centre. The incumbent will ensure that all clients that undertake HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT) are psychologically prepared by providing psychological support in preparation for the receipt of results and education on HIV and health related issues. The incumbent will identify vulnerable groups with linkage to HCT, follow up blood results and linkage to care.

Key performance areas 

  • Provide pre and post HIV test counselling and testing to clients
  • Conduct HIV testing services to all age groups with a key focus on improving uptake of services amongst adolescents, including the LGBTQIA+ community and key populations
  • Conduct health education and literacy sessions to all clients on HIV and AIDS and related issues
  • Identify vulnerable groups and provide linkage to testing and adherence counselling
  • Assist with viral load monitoring and provide adherence counselling for treatment failure
  • Form and conduct support groups for adolescent clients, working with the Social Auxiliary Worker
  • Group workshops with adolescent support groups
  • Quality data management
  • Compilation of regular reports

Required minimum education and training 

HIV/AIDS counselling certificate

Minimum work experience 

One year’s relevant working experience as an HIV Counsellor in a health-related HIV/ARV environment and working with adolescent support groups

  • Training in adolescent services and Sexual and Reproductive Health
  • Must practice confidentiality and tact and be able to deal with sensitive information
  • Good communication and organisational skills

Main purpose of the job 

The incumbent will provide psycho-social support to clients.

Key performance areas 

  • Conduct individual counselling sessions with clients in line with Standard Operating Procedures
  • Conduct counselling on key areas such as adherence and disclosure
  • Provide emotional support / counselling for clients exhibiting psycho-social problems
  • Implement support groups for adolescents, including the LGBTQIA+ community and key populations, living with HIV
  • Ensure the development of adolescent-friendly spaces at the Centre
  • Collect and consolidate relevant counselling statistics from registers and report to team leader
  • Update client records after each visit 
  • Compilation of reports as needed by the project
  • Performance of ad hoc duties as required
  • Academic support services to clients

Required minimum education and training 

Higher certificate in Social Auxiliary Work and in basic HIV management

Professional Body Registration

South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP)

Minimum work experience 

At least one year’s experience in a healthcare setting and HIV services

Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities 

  • Adolescent and Youth Friendly Services (AYFS) experience
  • Effective communication within a multidisciplinary team
  • Must practice confidentiality and tact and be able to deal with sensitive information
